Zwift Play has surfaced as a novel approach for cyclists desiring a captivating experience when riding indoors.

It represents a significant step forward in virtual cycling technology, allowing us to take control of our handlebars and gears with Bluetooth-enabled remotes.

This increases the realism of our training sessions by providing features such as virtual shifting, which simulates the feel of changing gears on a real bike.

With these controllers, we can navigate the virtual roads of Zwift, engage in gamified experiences and enjoy a more interactive ride.

Our integration with smart trainers is seamless, as Zwift Play controllers are designed to connect easily with these devices.

Smart trainers, the cornerstone of indoor cycling setups, offer us the ability to automatically adjust resistance and simulate real-world terrains.

When setting up Zwift Play, our primary concern is ensuring a secure attachment of the controllers and a stable connection to our devices for an optimized riding experience.

Installation and Configuration

To begin installation, we identify our right and left Zwift Play controllers.

We then attach these to our bike’s handlebar, positioning them under the corresponding brake hoods.

The controllers should be fastened snugly with a flexible strap wrapping around the handlebars and hooking securely in place.

If the controllers do not feel secure, we use the provided spacers to achieve a better fit.

Compatibility: Zwift Play is designed to be compatible with most handlebar setups, but it’s crucial to check the fit beforehand.

For proper configuration, we ensure the firmware of the Zwift Play is updated.

Keeping the firmware current is essential for both the performance and the addition of new features.

Connecting Devices

Our next step is to establish a stable connection between Zwift Play controllers and our smart bike or trainer.

This process generally involves Bluetooth pairing.

  1. Turn on the Zwift Play controllers.
  2. Open the Zwift app on our preferred device.
  3. Navigate to the Bluetooth settings within the app.
  4. Select the Zwift Play controllers from the list of available devices.
  5. Confirm the pairing when prompted.

We make sure our bike or trainer is also connected to the Zwift app, following a similar Bluetooth pairing process.

Note on Operating Temperatures: Zwift Play controllers are built to withstand typical indoor training environments. Nevertheless, we avoid exposing them to extreme temperatures, which could impact performance.
